Hearts of Oak’s flawless streak under the guidance of new head coach Aboubakar Ouattar was halted as the Phobians settled for a draw against Bofoakwa Tano on Monday, March 11.

The Accra-based giants, facing venue challenges due to the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium, played to a 1-1 draw against the lower-ranked Bofoakwa side, who had one just a single game in their last five games.

Hearts of Oak, Ghana Premier League, Bofoakwa Tano, draw, Sogakope.
Hearts of Oak dropped points in their matchday 20 tie against Bofoakwa Tano.

Before their encounter with the Hunters in Sogakope, the former Ghana Premier League champions had enjoyed a two-game winning streak under Ouattara’s leadership.

How Hearts split points with Bofoakwa

Initially poised to maintain their perfect record under the Ivorian tactician, Hearts took the lead when Salifu Ibrahim broke the deadlock with a stunning strike in the 23rd minute.

Despite their dominance, the Rainbow Lads failed to capitalise further, and Bofoakwa managed to equalise after halftime when Emmanuel Agyenim took advantage on a defensive error.

The 21-time Ghanaian champions attempted to regain the lead with substitutions, bringing in Martin Karikari, Kashala Ramos Wanet, and Isaac Frimpong.

However, their efforts were in vain as both teams settled for a draw.

The result leaves Hearts in eighth place with 28 points from 20 matches, while Bofoakwa remains in the relegation zone with 20 points from 20 outings.
