Ghana Army Women’s emerge winners at Greater Accra Handball Open Championship

In a thrilling display of handball at the Prisons Sports Complex, Ghana Army Women’s team clinched the prestigious title of the 2024 Greater Accra Handball Open Championship.

The Burma Camp favorite began their journey with a statement-making win over Healthy Life Global, where Army Women showcased their skill and teamwork, securing a solid victory with a scoreline of 19-14.

Building on this momentum, they faced defending champions Police in a high-stakes encounter, emerging triumphant with a hard-fought 16-12 victory, earning their spot in the championship finals.

The finals clash against Prisons promised fireworks, with both teams displaying top-notch handball skills. In a tense and closely contested match, Ghana Army Women exhibited resilience and determination, ultimately prevailing with a final score of 12-8, claiming the championship crown amidst jubilant celebrations.

While the women’s team basked in their championship glory, Army Men faced a formidable challenge in the semi-finals against Prisons. Despite their valiant efforts, they fell short in a hard-fought match, bowing out of the competition at the penultimate stage. However, their journey showcased moments of brilliance, including victories against EL Wak Wings and Cantonment Youth, highlighting their potential and skill on the handball court.

This victory not only adds another accolade to Ghana Army’s illustrious handball legacy but also serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the players, coaching staff, and the entire support system behind the team.
