SALAFEST 2024: Hon. Hajia Nasira Unites Sekyere Afram Plains Youth Through Sports

Hon. Hajia Nasira Afrah, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Sekyere Afram Plains constituency, took a significant step towards uniting the citizens by organizing a football gala for the youth and people of the Sekyere plains.

The day-long event, which kicked off with prominent personalities in attendance, including Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South, Hon. Mavis Kukuia Bissue, PC for Ahanta West – NDC, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, and Mr. Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee, aimed to promote unity and development among the youth.

Hajia Nasira Afrah encouraged the youth to embrace unity for development and prosperity, expressing appreciation for their peaceful participation in the recent electoral registration exercise. Hon. Haruna Iddrisu shared valuable advice, urging the youth to consider football and education for a better future, citing Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s success as an example. He emphasized the importance of dialogue in maintaining unity in the constituency ahead of the 2024 general election.

The football tournament featured eight teams: Dagomba, Anyinofi, Drobonso, Fumsua, Hamidu, Dawia, Issahkrom, and Seneso. After a thrilling competition, Drobonso emerged as the winner, defeating Hamidu in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw. The awards ceremony saw Seth Adomako (Essien) named Best Player, Owusu Boateng Godfred named Best Goalkeeper, and Abdul Razak Yahaya crowned Goal King.

Hajia Nasira Afrah congratulated Drobonso on their well-deserved victory, highlighting the power of sports in bringing communities together and fostering unity and camaraderie.

The event showcased the spirit of sportsmanship and the power of unity in achieving common goals, inspiring a sense of community and togetherness among the youth and people of Sekyere Afram Plains.
