From the Streets of Kwahu Mamfe to Austin, USA: Osman Bukari’s Journey

Osman Bukari’s career has undergone significant evolution, from his humble beginnings in Kwahu Mamfe to his current stint at Austin FC in the USA.

The young Ghanaian player’s journey began in 2017 at Accra Lions, where he played for a season. In 2018, he was loaned to RSC Anderlecht’s youth team, showcasing his versatility and skills that caught the attention of AS Trencin’s head coach. He was subsequently promoted to the senior team, making his debut in the 2018 season of the Fortuna Liga.

Bukari’s impressive performances earned him a spot in the senior AS Trencin team, where he made his debut on July 29, 2018. His debut season was remarkable, establishing him as a key player and earning him a nomination for the player of the season award. He played 56 games and scored 12 goals for the club.

On September 4, 2020, Bukari moved to fellow Belgian club Zent, signing a three-year deal. However, after playing 25 matches, he was loaned to Ligue 1 club FC Nantes with an option to buy. During his tenure at FC Nantes, he won his first professional title, the Club Coupe de France. After ten months, he joined his dream club, Red Star Belgrade, on June 21, 2022.

At Red Star Belgrade, Bukari spent two seasons, scoring 25 goals and providing 20 assists in 78 appearances.

He helped the team win back-to-back Serbian league titles and cups. In the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League, he scored two goals and provided two assists, impressing with his speed and skill.

Bukari made his Ghana debut on March 25, 2021, and has since become a regular for the national team, representing Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

He grabbed his debut goal for the Black Stars against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opener, coming off the bench to score in a comfortable win at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. He has made 17 senior international appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

On May 30, 2024, Austin FC announced the transfer of Osman Bukari from Red Star Belgrade on a three-and-a-half-year contract, pending receipt of his ITC and P-1 visa.
