The President of Africa Rugby, Mr. Herbert Mensah, has congratulated Uganda on their triumphant victory over South Africa in the Rugby 7s in Mauritius.

The president was marveled by the high level of performance from both sides and believes that Africa has the best athletes.

“This is the first time that Rugby Africa has had a competition. This Rugby Africa 7s tournament is in Mauritius over two weekends, so we are copying the format that you are seeing in the challenge series.”.

“The quality of Africa has always been very good. Our athletes, in my view, are the best. The problem is, do they get competition space in time, and when we do, is it at the right level?” he quizzes.

“World Rugby is changing a lot of this format; it is getting a lot more interesting in this kind of delivery of competitions. One of them is the challenge series. Mauritius is here, and we had a qualification for the challenge series. The top two went through over two weekends, and we have seen it on a point basis.”.

“I have witnessed an extraordinary final: South Africa against Uganda. Wow. The quality was something else, and to see Uganda’s come through yet again was something to hold. Now we have Madagascar and Uganda, both of which qualify for the challenge series.”.

“I am just so incredible happy because what it means is that we have the quality of competition unraveled. We now have an interest in Rugby Pass and World Rugby. We also have interest from SuperSports in terms of what we are doing, and I say we are in a truly fantastic space.”.
