Fourth Edition of KGL Foundation Inter Regional U17 Championship Launched

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially launched the fourth edition of the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, marking a significant milestone in the development of youth football in Ghana.

The launch ceremony, held on July 24, 2024, at the GFA Conference Room, was attended by top officials from the GFA and sponsors, KGL Foundation.

The tournament, scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 8, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, promises to be an exciting showcase of young talent. This year’s edition follows the successful hosting of the previous edition in Kumasi.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey, Executive Council member of the GFA, praised KGL Foundation for their unwavering support of youth football. “KGL Foundation has been a prime supporter of the GFA in the area of youth football, and their sponsorship of Colts Football aligns perfectly with our emphasis on nurturing young talent.”

Dr. Abbey highlighted the championship’s impressive track record of producing top talents for national teams and domestic clubs in Ghana. “The KGL U17 Colts Championship has been a critical platform for identifying and developing future stars, providing young talents with the opportunity to shine and reach their full potential.”

Nii Sarpey, Programs Manager at KGL Foundation, reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting the development of young football talent in Ghana. “This tournament provides a platform for U-17 players to showcase their skills and potentially become future stars of Ghanaian football.”

The championship will feature the best U17 players from each of the ten Regional Football Associations, competing for top honors, including the Golden Boot, Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Discovery of the Year awards.
