The 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season commenced today, and what a start it was! Two captivating matches got the season underway, with Dreams FC hosting FC Samatex 1996 and Vision FC taking on Berekum Chelsea.

In the first match, Dreams FC and FC Samatex 1996 played out a goalless draw, but the game was not without controversy. Dreams’ Collins Boah was awarded a red card in the 69th minute, forcing his team to play with ten men for the remainder of the match. Despite this setback, Dreams FC held their ground, and the match ended in a stalemate.

The second match of the day saw Vision FC and Berekum Chelsea also end in a 0-0 draw. Both teams created scoring opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.

These opening matches raise questions about what to expect from the rest of the season. Will we see a continuation of the defensive solidity displayed by these teams, or will attacking flair come to the forefront as the season progresses? Only time will tell.
