RLFG Presents Ghana Rugby League 9s This October

Accra, Ghana — The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) will host the Ghana Rugby League 9s tournament from October 6 to October 27, 2024, with matches taking place every Sunday in October at 10:30 am at the University of Ghana Rugby Field.

The event features six teams—Accra Panthers, Accra Majestics, UG Titans, Skolars, Bulls, and Nungua Tigers—competing in men’s, women’s, and youth divisions. Skolars and Accra Panthers will be defending their titles in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, while African Warriors are the defending champions in the youth division.

Alongside the 45 matches, RLFG is emphasizing community health by offering breast and prostate screenings every Sunday. In collaboration with Esports Association Ghana, the tournament will also feature an Esports Rugby League event on October 27.

RLFG President Mrs. Juliana Storey emphasized the event’s broader focus: “This tournament integrates sport, health, and technology for the benefit of our community.”

The event is supported by Polytank, MX24Sports, Ghanaian Times, Jibu, Firm Foods, First Love Therapeutic Massage, Pass Therapy and Wellness Center, Salford Red Devils, Regardless, Radical, Life Healthcare Center, and Aladdin Print House & Technologies.

Rugby League 9s is a fast-paced version of rugby league, featuring nine players per team instead of the traditional thirteen. The game emphasizes speed, agility, and open-field play, making it an exciting and dynamic version of the sport. Fans can expect fast action and thrilling tries throughout the tournament.
