Maiden triangular inter-colleges hockey games to push-off on October 26

Ball and Sticks in collaboration with Harrow Sports (USA) is set to organise the maiden edition of the triangular inter-colleges’ hockey games on Saturday, October 26 at the SOS College, Tema.

The competition, according to the organisers is in preparation for the Hockey Accelerate Tournament which falls under the May Hockey Festival scheduled to take place from May 1-4, 2025, at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.

The three colleges to compete in the triangular tournament on Saturday are, Legacy Girls College, Hope College and the host college, SOS College.

Mr Kojo Lumour Ameye, the Chief Executive Officer of Ball and Stick, mentioned that there would be similar competitions among tertiary schools to prepare them for the May Hockey Festival scheduled to take place from 1st to 31st May 2025.

He said in January, the triangular Inter-tertiary games will be held between Ashesi University, Academic City, and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

The Triangular games are events part of several activities planned in preparation of the May Hockey Festivals, a month program aimed at creating awareness and promoting Hockey.

Mr. Kojo Lumour Ameye spoke about the 1M4H (1 Million 4 Hockey) project, the mother project of which the May Hockey Festival falls under. It is targeted at growing hockey so to have 1 Million people participating and following the sport.

He noted that, Ball and Stick is focusing primarily on growing hockey in schools as it’s contribution to augment the efforts of the State Institution responsible for Hockey (Ghana Hockey Association).
