Rugby League Federation Ghana Launches 2025 Season

Accra, Ghana – The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) is proud to announce the official launch of its highly anticipated 2025 rugby league season.

With a comprehensive calendar of events, the Federation aims to further develop the sport across Ghana, engage new audiences, and solidify rugby league’s place in the country’s sporting landscape.

The season will kick off with coaching and officiating courses in January to ensure the highest standards of training and match management. A host of competitions, stakeholder engagements, and community-driven activities will follow, culminating in the prestigious President’s Cup in November.

Madam Juliana Storey, President of RLFG, expressed her excitement for the upcoming season:

“The 2025 season represents a significant step in our journey to expand rugby league in Ghana. This year’s calendar reflects our commitment to nurturing talent at all levels, promoting inclusivity, and building a strong sense of community. We are eager to see the impact these events will have on our players, fans, and stakeholders.”

Jafaru A. Mustapha, General Manager of RLFG, added:

“This season is the result of hard work, collaboration, and dedication from everyone involved in Ghana’s rugby league community. The diverse activities planned will challenge our players, enhance their skills, and create unforgettable moments for fans. The 2025 season is set to be a cornerstone in the growth of rugby league in Ghana.”

Key Monthly Activities
January: Coaching and Officiating Course, Club Meeting, Annual General Meeting

February: E-Rugby League Competition, Stakeholder Engagement on the 2025–2030 Strategy
March: Media Month, focusing on enhancing the sport’s visibility nationwide
April: U13 & U16 Inter-Schools Competitions in Greater Accra and Ashanti, plus the Funtusktic Event
May: Medical Team Training, Mayhem Tournament, 13s League Round 1 for Men, Women, and Youth
June: Fathers Day Fun Day
July: International Break
August: 13s League Round 2 for Men, Women, and Youth
September: U13 & U16 Competition (Greater Accra), U19 Competition Round 1 (Ashanti), World Cleanup Day & Beach Clean-Up
October: U19 Competition Round 2 (Ashanti), Rugby League 9s Championship
November: President’s Cup, Awards Dinner, and End-of-Year Planning
