Joe Nana Adarkwa has expressed heartfelt gratitude as he steps down from his role as head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies after nine successful years at the helm.

The celebrated coach, who led the club to two Women’s Premier League titles in 2022 and 2023, along with a host of other achievements, decided to take a sabbatical for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Reflecting on his time with the club, Adarkwa shared his pride in the progress the team had made, both on and off the field. “I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made together, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the memories we’ve created,” he said in a farewell message to his players and staff.

“You’ve not only grown as athletes, but also as individuals, and I have no doubt that you’ll carry the lessons and values we’ve shared onto future endeavours.”

Adarkwa’s tenure at Ampem Darkoa was marked by triumph, including the club’s Women’s FA Cup win, a Gold medal at the WAFU Women’s Champions League, and a fourth-place finish in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in Côte d’Ivoire.

Despite stepping away from the club, Adarkwa remains dedicated to his national coaching duties, having recently guided the Black Maidens to victory in the WAFU B U-17 Girls’ Cup.

In closing, he assured his players, “Thank you again for an unforgettable journey. I’ll be cheering for each of you every step of the way.” Adarkwa plans to focus on his role with the national U-17 team and will announce his next career move soon.
