Maiden Rising Star Rugby League Tournament – Accra Edition Kicks Off

Accra, Ghana – March 15, 2025 – The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG), in partnership with Futurestars Charity and Salford Red Devils, is excited to announce the Maiden Rising Star Rugby League Tournament – Accra Edition (U-15), set to take place on March 20, 2025, at Englebert School from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

This exciting youth tournament aims to nurture young rugby talent while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork among school children.

The tournament will feature teams from Future Leader School (Panthers), Twedaase (Bulls), Englebert School (Skolars), Tema Cluster and Queensland International (Tigers) all competing for the ultimate title. In addition to the competitive games, attendees will enjoy a range of engaging activities, including the Hit-The-Bottle Challenge, E-Rugby League Games, Team Chant Challenge, and a Trophy Tour.

Speaking on the significance of this event, Mrs. Juliana Storey, President of RLFG, stated:

“This tournament is an incredible opportunity for young athletes to experience the thrill of rugby league at a competitive level. By providing a structured and supportive environment, we are helping to develop the next generation of rugby league stars in Ghana. Our collaboration with Futurestars Charity and Salford Red Devils further reinforces our commitment to grassroots development and making rugby league accessible to all.”

Emmanuel Okyen-Tetteh, Country Leader of Futurestars Charity, emphasized the importance of using sport as a tool for positive change:

“At Futurestars Charity, we believe that sports, especially rugby league, can transform lives by instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience in young people. Through this partnership, we are empowering young athletes with opportunities to grow, both on and off the field.”

Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, Ghana’s Development Manager for Salford Red Devils, one of the leading clubs in the UK’s Super League also expressed the clubs excitement about the initiative:
