Accra, March 17, 2025 – The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has ushered in a new leadership team following its Elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
In a historic moment for the sport, Rafatu Inusah was elected as President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union for the next four years, succeeding Herbert Mensah, who now serves as President of Rugby Africa.
Ms. Inusah, the former Director of the GRFU, ran unopposed, solidifying her status as the new face of Ghana Rugby.


New Leadership Team
The elections and appointments saw the emergence of a dynamic team dedicated to advancing rugby in Ghana:
• President: Rafatu Inusah
• Vice President: Emmanuel Bamfi
• General Secretary: Mr. Sacut Amenga-Etego
• Treasurer: Mr. Hajj Abdul Saeed Samed
• Ghana Rugby Player Welfare • Association: Christian Percy Adamson
• Women’s Representative: Anita Atieku
Four Board Members: Prince Kwaku Boamah, Sacut Amenga Ettego, Emmanuel Kalos, and Hajj Abdul Samed Said
• General Manager: Mr. Samura Mensah
• Judicial Officer: Mr. Kwesi Dadze-Yorke
• Tournament Commissioner: Mr. Hajj Salisu Abdul Rahman
• Deputy Tournament Commissioner: Dennis Clement
• Director of Corporate Communications: Rachel Ankomah


A Transparent Election Process
The Elective AGM was observed by senior rugby officials, including World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert, reps from Right Africa and acting Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.


The election process was supervised by Mrs Gladys Pinkrah, Regional Director, Electoral Commission (EC)
Greater Accra Region. After the voting, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah officially swore in the newly elected and appointed officers.


Government’s Support for Rugby’s Growth
Addressing the AGM, NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the sport:
“As the new Director of the NSA, it is an honor to attend this historic congress. It is even more significant that Herbert Mensah, a Ghanaian, now leads Rugby Africa, the sport’s continental governing body. This is a proud moment for Ghana Rugby.”
Encouraging the new leadership, he added:
“This is just the beginning. The road ahead requires hard work, unity, and visionary leadership. Madam President, I have no doubt that under your guidance, Ghana Rugby will reach new heights.”
A New Era for Ghana Rugby
In her acceptance speech, President Rafatu Inusah expressed deep appreciation to the delegates for their trust. She also acknowledged Herbert Mensah’s contributions, highlighting his efforts in developing Ghana Rugby.


“Our athletes remain our top priority. We will collaborate with all stakeholders to provide the support needed for them to excel on the international stage,” she assured.
With fresh leadership in place, Ghana Rugby is poised for an exciting new chapter, aiming to expand the sport’s reach and elevate its global standing.
