Ghana’s 23 World Cup Qualifier Squad: How Otto Addo’s Foreign-Based Players Fared Abroad—–24 Hour Economy Ghana takes a closer look at the performance of Ghanaian players abroad who have been invited for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar by Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

The team will assemble on Monday, March 17, 2025, and train for four days before hosting Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The Black Stars will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in another Group I match on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Ghana are currently second in Group I with nine points from four matches after securing three wins and one defeat, leveling them with Comoros.

 

Goalkeepers

Lawrence Ati-Zigi conceded two goals in post as FC St.Gallen lost 2-0 to Lausanne in the Swiss Super League.

Joseph Wollacott conceded five goals as Crawley Town lost 5-1 to Huddersfield in round 37 of the English League One.

Benjamin Asare was in post for Hearts of Oak as they lost by a lone goal against Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend.

 

Defenders

Gideon Mensah saw 63 minutes of action for AJ Auxerre in their 1-1 draw against Nice.

Ebenezer Annan saw 10 minutes of action for Red Star Belgrade in their 2-1 win over Sp.Subotica

Mohammed Salisu made a brief appearance for AS Monaco in their 2-0 win over Angers

Jerome Opoku saw 90 minutes of action for Istanbul Basaksehir in their 3-0 loss to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League.

Ernest Nuamah saw 71 minutes of action for Olympique Lyon in their 4-2 win over Le Havre

 

FORWARDS

Antoine Semenyo saw AFC Bournemouth in their 2-1 loss to Brentford in the English Premier League.

Kamal Deen Sulemana saw 83 minutes of action for Southampton in their 2-1 loss to Wolves in the Premier League

Jordan Ayew made a brief appearance for Leicester City in their 3-0 loss to Manchester United

Jerry Afriyie lasted 75 minutes of action for CD Lugo in their 2-1 win over Unionistas
