Over 100 young athletes, predominantly girls, electrified the field at the recent Kanda Cluster of Schools T1 Rugby Event.
The event featured six teams, comprising three boys’ and three girls’ teams, showcasing the growing popularity of rugby among young people in Ghana.
T1 Rugby, a non-contact form of rugby, allows players of all ages and abilities to participate, promoting inclusivity and teamwork.
The highlight of the event was an inspiring display by Ghana’s National Rugby Teams, both men and women, which undoubtedly motivated the young athletes to strive for excellence. The Ghana Rugby Football Union’s generous donation of essential products, including sanitary pads, Kivo gari, and wet wipes, was a thoughtful gesture that supported the health and dignity of the participants.

This initiative demonstrates the union’s commitment to promoting sports development while addressing critical social issues affecting young athletes, particularly girls. The success of the event can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make it a reality.
The T1 Rugby event serves as a beacon of hope for the growth of rugby in Ghana, particularly among young people. As the sport continues to gain popularity, it is essential for stakeholders to build on this momentum and create more opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills.
