The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has graciously accepted an invitation from the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to lead officers of the Ghana Police Service in the May Day Evening Walk and Workout event scheduled for Thursday, 1st May 2025.

He also confirmed his attendance at the much-anticipated Ghana Premier League fixture between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday, 4th May 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The IGP made these commitments during a courtesy call paid on him by the NSA Boss and his delegation at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 30th April 2025. The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the NSA and the Ghana Police Service through sports and recreational activities.

Welcoming the NSA delegation, Mr. Yohuno introduced Members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), who each shared insights on the Service’s involvement in various sporting disciplines.

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, DCOP Lydia Donkor, highlighted the achievements of the Police Ladies football team and advocated for the revival of the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games.

COP Iddi Seidu, POMAB Member in charge of welfare, echoed similar sentiments and proposed
the recruitment of talented sportsmen and women into the Police Service, while also noting that the Service had scheduled its own May Day morning walk to promote health and wellness among its ranks.

Mr. Ampofo Ankrah, in his remarks, commended the Ghana Police Service for its continued support for football and the enforcement of enhanced safety and security measures at league
centres across the country. He strongly backed calls for the revival of the SESSA Games, describing it as a viable pathway for identifying and integrating athletic talent into the security services.
