It’s been 24 years since the Accra stadium disaster!  The May 9 Foundation and its President Herbert Mensah has kept the memory of this historic disaster alive for over two decades and counting with selfless charity and advocacy.

This year, we walk in Kumasi on Friday May 9 2025 in memory of the over 120 Ghanaian soccer fans who perished during a riotous soccer game at the Accra sports stadium.

Cognizant of the unabated violence that continues to afflict our soccer arena, Friday’s walk and charity event will highlight the demise of Pooley, a famous Asante Kotoko soccer fan who was recently stabbed to death during a premier league game between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre.

Pooley’s unfortunate demise has put his wife and 4 children in permanent but avoidable distress.

Come let’s walk together starting at 6 am on Friday May 9 at the Kumasi airport roundabout and ending at the Kumasi central Mosque! The walk will be climaxed with charity donations in the afternoon.
