The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, reaffirmed his commitment to advancing sports development and enhancing stadium security during the high-profile Ghana Premier League encounter between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 4th May 2025.
Demonstrating a strong belief in the role of sports in national development, the IGP used the occasion to advocate for the revival of the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games. He underscored their significance in nurturing athletic talent, instilling discipline, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

Mr. Yohuno also expressed the Ghana Police Service’s willingness to collaborate with sports federations to identify and train promising young athletes across the country.
His presence at the stadium—alongside members of the Police Management Board (POMAB)—signaled a renewed commitment by the Service to match-day safety and public event management. As part of ongoing efforts to build capacity, the police carried out crowd control demonstrations and integrated new recruits into stadium security operations to provide hands-on experience.

The IGP further pledged continued support for initiatives led by the National Sports Authority (NSA), reaffirming the Police Service’s dedication to creating a secure and conducive environment for sports development in Ghana.
