Accra Titans outclass DPS Pasanga to make history in Rotary Club of Accra Premier Cricket Fiesta at Achimota

Accra Titans announced their arrival in dominant fashion, clinching their first-ever modified cricket title after defeating DPS Plastic Tamil Pasanga in a tightly contested final of the inaugural Rotary Club of Accra Premier Hard Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament at the Achimota Cricket Oval A on Sunday, June 1, 2025..

Backed by co-title sponsors Lenovo and with support from the Ghana Cricket Association, the 12-team one-day tournament was split into four groups of three, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout stages.

DPS Plastic Tamil Pasanga qualified from Group A alongside Salt n’ Pepper, while Kaneshie Knight Riders lost all 2 matches.

Accra Titans topped group B and was with Panjab Warriors into the last 8, with Ginny Super Giants missing out.

In Group C, Defenders XI and Royal Stars Tema Champions United into the quarters, whereas Gujarat Tridents and Devnik United had the better of Shaheen’s Game Changers in Group D.

Knockout Rounds:
DPS Plastic Tamil Pasanga began the knockout phase with a commanding 53-run victory over Panjab Warriors, posting 79/3 and restricting their opponents to just 27/7.

Defenders XI booked their semifinal spot by chasing down Devnik United’s 38/7 in just 3.2 overs, ending 41/3 to win by 7 wickets.

Accra Titans dispatched Salt n’ Pepper by 20 runs after scoring 60/6 and bowling out their opponents for 40/7.

Royal Stars Tema dominated Gujarat Tridents, chasing down 50/4 with ease in 3.4 overs, finishing 51/1 for a 7-wicket win.

The high-paced tournament was not just about cricket but also raised funds for child education, beach clean-ups, and other Rotary Club-led social projects.

Semi-Final Drama:
DPS again proved dominant, defending 59/4 and restricting Defenders XI to 44/8 to book a final spot.

Accra Titans faced Royal Stars Tema in a thriller. Titans struggled with 36/7 in the first innings, but bounced back with an incredible bowling display.

Wickets from Kapil, Kaka, and Logan held the Royals to 24/9, handing Titans a 12-run win.

The Grand Finale:
The Titans’ bowling attack was clinical, with Logan, Sanjay, Kapil Jangir, Kapil Butola, and Vishal Barot all contributing to restrict DPS to 46/5, while dismissing top batters like Raman Madhu, Sam Michael Merbin, Arumugam Venkatesh, and Dilip Fab.

Titans chased the target with flair, sacrificing Bholu Patel in a selfless play, but still reaching 50/1 in just 3.3 overs to seal a 9-wicket triumph.

“We’ve built this team over time and pushed for this glory,” said winning captain Dinesh Butola, while DPS skipper Sam Michael Merbin graciously admitted, “Our early wickets cost us, but Titans played a great game.”

Player of the Tournament & Best Fielder: Raman Madhu (DPS) – 16.60 points, 8 dismissals
Best Bowler: Kapil Singh Butola (Accra Titans)
Best Batter: Bholu Patel (Accra Titans)

With the Indian community in Ghana continuing to organize more 5-over formats, it’s clear: cricket fever is far from over.
