As part of the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign 2025, young Asomaniwaa Akoto Akrofi has captured national attention as a 7-year-old referee actively participating in grassroots matches in Ghana’s Eastern Region. Her confident command on the pitch and passion for officiating at such a young age have inspired many, symbolizing the campaign’s goal of nurturing talent and promoting inclusivity from the earliest stages of the game.
Despite her tender age, Asomaniwaa discovered her passion for refereeing just a few months ago and has thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
She credits her brother, a football player, as her inspiration – wanting to carve out her own path in the sport. With determination and a love for the game, Asomaniwaa is poised to achieve even greater milestones in football officiating.
