BetPawa Extends Locker Room Bonus to Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League in Renewed GFA Deal

In a bid to elevate the women’s game, betPawa and the Ghana Football Association have deepened their partnership by rolling out the Locker Room Bonus to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. This initiative, already a hit in the men’s top flight, will see female players directly benefit from performance-based rewards. The development marks another milestone in the quest to professionalise women’s football in Ghana and ensure parity in player motivation across competitions.

The Locker Room Bonus, a signature feature of the betPawa Ghana Premier League, rewards players directly for winning matches, providing an immediate financial boost and motivation for outstanding performances.

Top officials from the GFA, betPawa, clubs, stakeholders, and the media attended the ceremony on Friday.

General Secretary, Prosper Harisson Addo, described the move as a landmark motivation for the Women’s League.

This is a clear statement that women’s football is a priority, and we are committed to investing in its growth,” Prosper Harrison Addo said.

betPawa’s head of local Marketing & CSR, Borah Ndanyungu, expressed delight in widening the scope of the initiative, noting that the brand is passionate about driving excitement and professionalism across Ghana’s football ecosystem.

The Locker Room Bonus of GH₵ 400 will be paid to players who feature in the matchday squad for both the Men’s and Women’s Premier League teams that win their matches. Captain of Women’s FA Cup Champions, Faith Ladies, Beauty Abena Julius who spoke on behalf of the Women’s Premier League players commended the GFA and betPawa for the initiative.

betPawa is expected to spend approximately $380,843 (about Four Million Ghana Cedis) across the men’s Premier League and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League in the 2025/26 season.
