GFA Completes Training for Club and Regional Safety Officers—–The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has completed a nationwide training program for Club Safety and Security Officers (CSSOs) and Regional Sports Security Officers (RSSOs). The training, held from March 7 to March 10, 2025, focused on enhancing safety and security measures across Ghanaian football.
The program was conducted in three zones, covering all 86 elite clubs and 16 regions. Zone 2 included the Ashanti, Western, Western North, and Central Regions, while Zones 1 and 3 catered to the remaining regions.
The training modules covered key areas such as:
- Challenges of Safety and Security in Ghana â€“ Identifying and addressing critical concerns in football security.
- Roles of CSSOs and RSSOs â€“ Defining responsibilities and fostering collaboration between club and regional officers.
- Club Safety and Security Officer Checklist â€“ Providing a structured approach to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Introduction to Enhanced Safety and Security Protocols 2025 â€“ Familiarizing officers with new measures aimed at improving stadium security.
- Practicum and Scenario Sessions â€“ Hands-on training with real-world safety and security exercises.

The workshop was led by DCOP Lydia Donkor, Chairperson of the Security Committee, alongside Capt (Rtd) Nick Owusu, Vice Chairman of the Safety Committee. Other facilitators included Julius Ben Emunah, Head of Competitions, as well as John Ansah, Felix Bewu, and Emmanuel Osei, members of the Safety and Security Committee.
This initiative forms part of the GFA’s commitment to strengthening safety and security at match venues across all competitions in Ghana.
