The Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of Madina, Chief Inspector Solomon Awudu caution drivers to be very vigilant when driving to their respective destination during this festive season . In an educative brief organized by the Face of Madina this weekend at Madina Astro Turf, Chief Inspector Solomon Awudu made it known that one distractive instrument that lead to accident is the intake of alcohol before going on a journey.
The Chief Inspector made it known that by constitution, at all times a driver is suppose to carry his driving license along when going for a journey. Under no circumstance will a driver be pardon if he doesn’t have his license with him due to its lose or forgetfulness.
Even when a driver captures a copy of his license on his mobile phone it will still be consider as not acceptable as its not in its hard copy.
The Face of Madina aim for holding this event to bring respective stakeholders from the police , hawkers, drivers, fire service etc., together through sports to educate them on current happenings in their field of work. The initiative which commence from 2014 has been consistent on a yearly base in November.
However last year it could not hold so this weekend football match served as a compensation to make stakeholders aware that management still has them at heart. the periodic holdings is to make sure that ahead of every festive season the respective stakeholders are educated so the community and Ghana as a whole will be in order.
A football match was also play to unite both teams through sports promotion. drivers association played against the police team. Police team triumph over the drivers association on a 2-1 note.
The Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) is an agency under the Ghana Police Service responsible for road safety in Ghana. The MTTD was established in 1952 where it was known as the Ghana Police Traffic Unit. In 1981, the Justice Archer Commission, reviewed the MTTD’s function and accredited it as the National MTTD.
The Unit became The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD)  in March 2013 following the enactment of the Police Service Regulation 2012 (C.I 76). The department is headed by a director general.

Brief History of MTTD
The MTTD educates road users on accident-free road practices through training of motorists and pedestrians.The member of the unit is trained to spot, warn and arrest offending motorists, records all accidents and educates the public on preventive measures. Officers of the MTTD control traffic and enforce traffic regulations.
The department is in-charge of escort for the President of Ghana, state and foreign dignitaries.The motor Traffic and Transport Directorate is one of the most important sectors of the Ghana police service serving the alienable purpose in road safety in the country.

- Enforcement of all road traffic laws and regulations
- Investigation on road traffic accident crash cases reported
- Processing and prosecution of traffic offenders
- Provision of presidential route security
- Presidential and protocol escort for VIPS and state dignitaries
- Collaboration with road safety stakeholders (NRSC, DVLA, GNFS)
