Rose Yeboah, Anita Afrifa & Alex Amankwah Shatter National Indoor Records in Spectacular Showings

Ghanaian high jumper Rose Yeboah has once again pushed the limits, setting a new national indoor record of 1.92m at the 2025 New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Her leap improved her own previous mark by 1cm, further solidifying her dominance in the event.Yeboah shared the milestone with Nigeria’s Temitope Adeshina, as both athletes successfully cleared the 1.92m height.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian sprinter Anita Afrifa was also in record-breaking form, clocking an impressive 23.26s in the 200m indoor race at the 2025 Steve Miller Invitational in Kansas, USA.

Her time shattered the previous Ghanaian indoor record of 23.34s, set by Flings Owusu-Agyapong in 2016, and also stood as a meeting record.

Afrifa, a student-athlete at Colby Community College, is under the mentorship of Head Coach Clinton Fletcher, and her rapid progress suggests she could be a rising force in Ghanaian sprinting.

Adding to the streak of remarkable performances, Alex Amankwah rewrote Ghana’s indoor 800m record, clocking a sensational 1:45.82 minutes at the 2025 Millrose Games in New York, USA.

His time marked a significant breakthrough in middle-distance running for Ghana.

These outstanding feats highlight Ghana’s growing presence in global athletics, with Yeboah, Afrifa, and Amankwah all proving to be key contenders in their respective events.
