Mawuko Afadzinu crowns SWAG Sports Administrator of the Year 2023

The president of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, Mawuko Afadzinu has received the award for the Sports Administrator of the year 2023 after year-on-year of exceptional leadership demonstration.

The astute sports administrator received this award at the 48th Nguvu SWAG Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday night.

Aside from the prestigious award, the Ghana Table Tennis Association was also awarded for being one of the top five Federations in Ghana.

In the year 2023 under review, Mawuko Afadzinu, who is also the first vice president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, was elected as the first Chairman of the Sustainability Committee of the International Table Tennis Federation for two years.

He also led a workshop on growing revenues for national, regional, and continental events at the Annual Summit of the International Table Tennis Federation held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Association organised a level one International Table Tennis Federation coaching course for 28 members as well as an International Table Tennis Federation national refereeing course.

Five cadet players also received academic scholarships to enable them to combine table tennis with their education.

Young talented female players Juanita Borteye and Blessing Labanti joined their continental colleagues in Egypt for a training program under the tutelage of Chinese coaches to hone their skills.

There were as many as sixteen local and international competitions for players that kept them very active and in shape in preparation for the upcoming African Games.

United States of America-based senior national team player Felix Lartey won the SWAG Male Table Tennis Player of the Year while female prodigy Juanita Borteye of Rising Star Table Tennis Academy won the award of SWAG Female Prospect of the Year.
SWAG Awards is an annual event held to honour sports administrators and athletes for their stunning performances in the year under review.
