The Principle of “Team Comes First” – My Observation of Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa

Win or lose today, Super Eagles strong man Ahmed Musa needs to be studied by African politicians and football administrators alike.

He has been the silent catalyst for Nigeria’s progress to the final sometimes lurking around the hotel lobby and corrudors like a security guard.

Most fans have forgotten that he is the senior most player and captain of the team but he has not been featured in any of the matches since the tournament kicked off.

I have seen him involved in everything the team does here at their hotel.

Unless he’s crying in his room alone I have not heard or seen him express open disappointment.

The opposite seems to be the case and he commands huge respect.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has never underestimated nor taken for granted Ahmed Musa’s priceless influence on the Nigeria team.

“Ahmed Musa is special and important to the team. He is my assistant. He advises me and gives the necessary support. He is committed in his role and he can play. We want to win the AFCON for Musa to lift the trophy.”

Ahmed Musa is his name. A new type of team player.
