The Ghana Immigration Service Holds Its Maiden Fitness Walk

The Ghana Immigration Service maiden edition fitness walk was held on Saturday 17th February, 2024 with over four hundred officers and men from Headquarters and Greater Accra, KIA, Tema and Central East Regional Commands participating. Before the walk there was free medical screening for all officers and men.

GIS Fitness Walk

The 6.7 km walk which started from the GIS Headquarters at 0630 hours through ridge roundabout to Osu Oxford street through Danquah circle and ended at GIS Headquarters at 0800 hours was aimed at promoting physical wellbeing of officers and socialization between senior ranks and other ranks. There was aerobics after the walk which was led by PTI Snr. Inspector Emmanuel Ankrah.

The head of public affairs of the Ghana Immigration Service, Chief Supt. Amoako-Atta, also told the media that maintaining physical condition was crucial to their job at the GIS and that occasions like these reinforce their ties as a team.

Additionally, he stressed on the significance of maintaining physical fitness because it was their responsibility to ensure national security.

In attendance were the Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Operations and command Mr. Laud Affrifah, Ag. Deputy Comptroller General Legal, Research and Monitoring Mr. Lawyer Phillip Peter Andoh, DCOI Maud Quianoo, Greater Accra Regional Commander DCOI Samuel Tetteh Ayer, DCOI Prudence Sosu, Chief of Staff Officer ACI Lawrence Agyapong and other Management members and officers and men drawn from Greater Accra, KIA, Tema and Central East Regional Commands.
