African Games 2023: Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, to commission Legon Sports Stadium today

His Excellency, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is scheduled to commission the Legon Sports Stadium on Friday, March 1, 2024, ahead of the forthcoming 13th African Games.

The 11,000 capacity facility which has been completed to host the African Games 2023 will be commissioned as part of the final phase of preparations for the games.

Scheduled to commence at 10:00 GMT, the inauguration will witness the presence of Vice President Bawumia, accompanied by the honorable Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif. Dr. Ofosu Asare expressed his enthusiasm regarding the Vice President’s involvement, emphasizing the significance of such high-level support for the sports sector.

About 13,000 athletes, officials, and volunteers from 54 African countries are expected in Accra for the two-week competition, and the commissioning of the venue signifies the final phase of preparations.
