Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, has been relieved of his post.

What accounted for his sack is not yet known but Mr Dodzie Numekevor has been appointed the Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Prof. Twumasi has come under intense pressure due to how he has managed the various state stadia.

The various national stadia have been poorly managed under the auspices of Prof Twumasi as the NSA boss.

Football fans and the media demanded his sack after shutting down the Accra Sports Stadium in the middle of the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League to host musical events forcing Hearts of Oak, Accra Lions, Great Olympics and other clubs to relocate from playing their games in Accra.

He recently lost his bid to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a parliamentary candidate in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

The NSA boss lost heavily in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency NPP Primaries that had Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah win via a landslide victory.

Prof Twumasi was appointed Director General of the Authority on December 10, 2019, replacing Robert Sarfo Mensah who resigned following his alleged involvement in the ‘number 12’ by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger EyePI.

Others who has been sacked including: Northern Regional NSA boss, Salamatu Alhassan has also been fired from the region.

Emmanuel Appiah Kubi, NSA boss in Ashanti region, Alexander Tiiku (Central), and Daniel Sarpei (Volta) have all been replaced.
