Kenyan tennis star, Angella Okutoyi, produced a flawless performance to beat Egypt’s Lamis Elhussein Abdelaziz to win the women’s singles tennis title in the ongoing African Games.

Okutoyi’s win is a major step toward her Olympics dream, and she will likely secure a ticket to Paris in the coming months.

The 20-year-old beat the Egyptian in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) to become the first Kenyan to win the title in 46 years since Jane Davies-Doxzon.

A day before, Okutoyi came from a set down and 0-3 in the second set to defeat the defending champion, Egypt’s Mayar Sherif, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5).

The East African nation now has five gold medals in the 13th African Games. Four of those medals have come from athletics.
